Health minister urges Ulema to create awareness about dengue

Says preventive measures should be adopted to contain spread of virus

Health Minister and Chairperson Public Health Dr Hisham Inamullah has urged all departments, religious scholars and district administrations to play their roles in the prevention of the dengue in the province and asked the religious scholars to use their platforms for awareness against the disease in their respective spheres.

He said that preventive measures should be adopted to curb the widespread of the dengue in the province and awareness could play a vital role into the prevention of the disease, said a statement issued from the office of the health department media wing on Saturday.

He urged the K-P Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Higher Education Dept, home and housing departments, information and local government, irrigation and planning, health and social welfare to play their roles in their respective spheres to curbs the dengue, while asked the education departments to hold walks in their school circles for awareness among the masses, the notification stated.

The provincial health department has sent notifications to the 20 other relevant departments of the province to play their roles in the prevention and awareness measures in their respective area, the notification added.


It’s pertinent to mention that provincial capital, border district of Khyber, Swabi, few of the southern districts are amongst the worst affected areas, while few cases also reported in the Malakand and Charsadda.

In Abbottabad 17 cases were reported as many as 13 cases were reported from Swabi, 12 from Haripur, eight from Kohat, four from Battagram, two each from Karak, Bunner and Lower Dir. One case each was reported from Mansehra, Upper Dir and Bannu.

As many as 566 people have been reported to suffering from the viral dengue fever in the province with the most cases reported from the provincial capital of Peshawar.

The health ministry has also directed the DHO of all districts to adopt the suited measures for the preventions of the dengue outbreak.
