Harley Quinn takes a dig at Joker, Pennywise in 'Birds of Prey' teaser

Birds of Prey depicts the independent and non-conforming Harley Quinn in its new teaser

Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn scathingly denounces her ex-boyfriend Joker, in the latest Birds of Prey teaser

The teaser of upcoming DC film, Birds of Prey, was recently launched in cinemas only but thanks to a recent leak, it is now accessible online. The point, however, is the way the teaser mocks The Joker right in the beginning.

Directed by Cathy Yan, the teaser’s video adds, “And the fantabulous emancipation of one Harley Quinn” along with the title, reflecting the theme of freedom. With undeniable influence from the Suicide Squad, the film is expected to be a box-office hit.

It starts with a bunch of red balloons floating in the dark, hiding a shadowy figure behind. The figure moves forward and is revealed to be Harley Quinn. She bursts the balloons furiously with her hammer and proclaims, “I’m so over clowns,” making a subtle but irrefutable reference to her ex-boyfriend.

It then moves onto showcasing glimpses from Birds of Prey, glorifying Harley in various action sequences. She appears fearless in her approach to intimidate the audience, resonating with the film's title as she knocks down people along with Black Canary and Huntress. The scenes generates a savage vibe complimenting an apparently revenge driven story, also showing Ewan McGregor as the villain Black Mask.

The colour theme of the film represents a bold and violent atmosphere, with the neon-tints calling grasping attention. The pop song Yeah Yeah Yeah further ignites the carefree and non-conformist aura.

The teaser over-all establishes Harley as an independent character, capable of commencing and fighting her own battles, shattering her enemies and steering clear of any male influence – specifically The Joker.

With no regard to her past, Harley makes the teaser as encapsulating as any DC superhero film, creating a hard impact from her dialogues and acting.
