The prime minister has approved the appointment of Dr Muhammad Mujtaba Paracha as Pakistan’s permanent representative to the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
Paracha is a grade-21 officer in the administrative service. The selection board sent a summary to the prime minister after Paracha came first on the finalised panel.
Paracha has completed his PhD and BSC in international trade from UK. He also completed an MSC in multi-fibre armament and Pakistan textile industry.
He has served as a civil servant for five years in Balochistan and in the finance and planning departments in Punjab. He also served on important posts of the Punjab trade secretary, the Lahore commissioner and the Punjab additional chief secretary.
