67-year-old actor passes away at Karachi hospital after suffering from liver disease

After veteran actor Abid Ali breathed his last in Karachi, Pakistanis hailed the leading man for leaving an indelible mark on Pakistani dramas and their hearts.

The 67-year-old had been admitted to the Liaquat National Hospital on Monday after suffering from liver disease.

Born in Quetta, the actor received the prestigious presidential award, Pride of Performance. He has three daughters, including Rahma and model and actor Iman.

He was recently seen in the film Heer Maan Ja alongside Ali Rehman Khan and Hareem Farooq.

Twitterati, as well as the showbiz industry, bid their final farewell to the actor as #AbidAli became the top trend on the micro-blogging site.

Actress Saba Qamar paid rich tribute to the actor, saying,"Today our industry lost a gem. Words can surely not express the loss of Abid Ali Sir. Working with him in Bunty I love you was an unforgettable experience. He always brought so much light to everyone around him. Such a legend. You’ll be missed Sir."



Humayun Saeed said he will miss him and "his work will never be forgotten".




Pakistani-Canadian actress Armeena Khan also spoke out saying,"R.I.P #AbidAli sir. You were a legend, you are a legend and you will forever be a shining star of the industry."



Faisal Qureshi said it was "a sad moment for us".
