ISLAMABAD:
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday withdrew notice issued against PTI leader Haleem Adil Sheikh for violation of electoral code of ethics in the by-election of NA-205 Ghotki and fixed hearing against Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah and Saeed Ghani for September 18.

During the hearing, Sheikh’s counsel, Shahid Gondal argued that there was no proof against his client. Ghotki deputy commissioner had filed a complaint against Sheikh on Sindh government’s wish, he maintained. The counsel pleaded that the application should be rejected for lack of proof and for the fact that there has been no affidavit.

Gondal said the application by his client against Sindh CM should be heard separately.

Upon hearing the arguments, the commission withdrew notice against Haleem Adil Sheikh and fixed the date of hearing against Murad and Ghani.

Talking to reporters, Shaikh said he will provide all the required proofs against Sindh CM. “I hope the commission will do justice. Government machinery and funds were used in Ghotki by-election,” he said.

The PTI leader said: “Justice was upheld in the ECP today. I hope a favoruable order will come on September 18.”
