As Karachi's roads were left crippled by traffic jams on major thoroughfares due to another spell of moderate to heavy rains, citizens put their altruism on show by helping each other out on Monday night.

Commuters had to spent hours on the city’s roads, braving the heavy rains from above and the knee-deep water below, after monsoon rains lashed its different parts for the fourth time this year.

Korangi industrial area, Qayyumabad Chowrangi, Korangi Causeway, Korangi Expressway, the Nursery and Tipu Sultan Road among others were all choked as the drainage system failed to handle the incoming rainwater.

Hundreds of vehicles including ambulances were stuck for hours on the roads.

However, pictures of citizens handing out biscuits to families in cars that were stuck in traffic jams brought smiles on the faces of social media users.
