LAHORE:
A recent survey claimed Dolphin Squad ranked number one among other police force units for creating sense of security among citizens in the provincial capital.

The survey was conducted after a local university delegation visited Dolphin headquarters, under the supervision of their faculty member Dr Mohsin and met Dolphin SP Bilal Zafar.

The SP asked the visiting students from the delegation to conduct the survey containing six questions in order to form public opinion on the police. The surveyors visited various areas of the city under the supervision of their professor and asked citizens about the dolphin force.

As per the survey, around 92 per cent of respondents gave a positive feedback regarding presence of the force and sense of security in the provincial capital. Some of the citizens participating in the survey said that the presence of the force was the reason behind the decline in street crime.

Previously, the SP organised lectures to enhance training and develop skills in the dolphin force. In this regard, psychologists, media representatives and political and social figures gave lectures to the force and advised them to treat citizens kindly.

On the issue of security, an overwhelming majority of the citizens responded positively to the crime rate reduction in the presence of the force. Overall, 95 per cent of citizens responded that both Dolphin Force and PRU Force were behind the elimination of street crimes and other crimes in the city.

Similarly, on the patrolling pattern of Dolphin and PRU, 95 per cent of citizens responded favourably for the timely presence of the forces. Over 90 per cent of citizens favoured the efficiency of Dolphin and PRU forces. The surveyors also presented a graphic view of the survey to the SP and shared their opinions on the squad's modern spirit, organisational structure, code of conduct, root and modern values. Students also commented on the use of social media as needed in the digital age. The SP said that the suggestions made by the students of the university were very positive and useful. “Implementation on the various points offered by the students should be ensured.”

He added that the students who conducted the survey did an excellent job by producing a well –researched and informative report.

In this survey, around 8-10 per cent of people also complained about the behaviour of dolphin force behavior and the force not patrolling effectively across the city.

Punjab Inspector General of Police Arif Nawaz Khan has directed to extend the scope of dolphin force to all districts.

According to the SP, an advantage of referential courses is that there has been a 50 per cent reduction in the number of complaints made against the squad by the Citizen Portal, Police Complaint No 8787, CCPO Office, DIG Office or complaints that are directly listed. “Dolphin police records show that there were 53 public complaints against the force in May this year. However, after these referential courses, the number of complaints dropped down to only 28 in August.”

The SP concluded that in the near future, citizen’s complaints against the squad will be close to zero.
