SU fires professor for sexual harassment

The syndicate of Sargodha University (SU) has removed a professor from services after allegations of sexual harassment were proven against him. Dr Sajid Iqbal, an assistant professor of mathematics at Bhakkar sub-campus, was accused of harassing a female student.
He was tried under the Protection Against Harassment of Women at the Workplace Act.
The inquiry against Dr Sajid was initiated on the complaint of the student. Initially, the Bhakkar sub-campus director formed a committee that later referred the case for an inquiry under the harassment act.
Only 9% of Sindh’s teachers can teach math, science
The accused was called multiple times and proof against him was provided by the complainant. Ultimately, he failed to prove his innocence.
After investigating the case thoroughly, and examining the SMS exchange of both parties, statement of the complainant, video on social media and forensic record of mobile phone data, the committee found that the accused deliberately approached and harassed the student to fulfill his desires. Thus, he was found guilty of sexual harassment.
