After long drawn-out controversies over the devolution process, the transfer of 17 ministries to the provinces under the 18th Amendment has been finalised. But the status of several hundred allied departments which are still under the purview of the federal government is a cause for concern for the federating units.
The federal government has retained 127 out of 169 subjects of seven devolved ministries to the provinces in the third and final phase of devolution. Some of the prominent subjects and departments of devolved ministries retained by the centre include:
