Anti-encroachment drive: Over 75 protesters nominated in FIR

According to sources, the FIR also contains charges of terrorism

KARACHI: Over 75 men and women have been named in a case relating to causing damage to public property and disruption of administrative work during an anti-encroachment operation in Ahsanabad on Sunday. According to sources, the FIR also contains charges of terrorism, besides Sections 186, 341, 149, 148, 147 and 109 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC).

The accused allegedly disrupted an anti-encroachment operation in Sector 3 of the Ahsanabad Cooperative Housing Society in Scheme 33 at SITE Superhighway. According to the FIR, a police van and a bullet-proof vehicle were damaged during the standoff between the police and the demonstrators. The mob also hurled stones at a private car and attacked it with sticks.

Karachi AIG's spokesperson said that the city police will continue its crackdown against land grabbers and will comply with the orders of the superior courts. He said that action is being taken against perpetrators involved in damage to public property and private vehicles.
