Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday reiterated Islamabad's resolve to stand by the people of Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK) till the day India frees the disputed valley of its draconian rule.

PM Imran, while speaking at Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute (GIKI), thanked the audience for labelling him the 'Ambassador of Kashmir' (Safeer-e-Kashmir) and maintained that Pakistan will stand by the Kashmir cause.

The premier added that education is a top priority of his government, and the standard of education in Pakistan will not be compromised upon under his governance.

He further said that history only remembers those who worked for the welfare of humanity and urged the youth to play its part.

"There were so many rich kings and rulers, but history only remembers those who exhibited kindness and those who worked for the welfare of humanity," he said.

Speaking on the topic, PM Imran said that people like Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Nelson Mandela are remembered for their services to humanity.

"Quaid-e-Azam fought against the RSS ideology, this is what made him what he was. His ideology and his thinking made him the man he was."

"We need people like them. People who will fight for the rights of their people. We cannot let Kashmiris be second-hand citizens in their own state."

He further spoke about educational reforms and added that the study of Riyasat-e-Medina should be added to the curriculum.

Earlier, PM Imran had delivered a policy statement on the matter in a joint session of parliament on August 6, vowing to take on the “racist” ideology of the BJP and promising to raise the issue on every international forum including the UN Security Council.

“What they [BJP] did in Kashmir is in accordance with their ideology. They have a racist ideology. I fear that the Indian government will now resort to ethnic cleansing in Kashmir,” he said.
