RDA fails to release minutes of governing body meeting
Held after one-year gap, the meeting had approved hiring consultant for Rawalpindi master plan
RAWALPINDI:
Even after more than 20 days, the minutes of the 44th governing body meeting of Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) have not been released so far.
Owing to the delay, the implementation on decisions approved in the meeting has stopped.
The meeting was held under RDA Chairman Arif Ali Abbasi on July 30 after a delay of one-year.
The meeting gave approval of various decisions including regularisation and promotions of employees, hiring of a consultant for the next 20-year master plan for Rawalpindi, construction of the RDA Complex Tower and two multi storey commercial buildings, revision of Water and Sanitation Agency’s (WASA’s) supply and sewerage tariffs according to cantonment tariffs.

The meeting had failed to reach any conclusion regarding the granting of commercial status to 16 roads in the city while it was also decided in the meeting that no construction plan of any multi storey building would be approved within RDA’s jurisdiction without Rs150,000 per kanal as fees for sewerage infrastructure.
Further, the members in the meeting had also approved to fill vacant seats in WASA whereas it had been made mandatory to submit an NOC from RDA to acquire a loan against properties located in private housing societies.
The governing body meeting had also approved monthly rates of Rs50,000 on every tube-well in private housing schemes for providing water to hydrants and tankers.
However, the delay in release of meeting’s minutes has halted implementation on all orders.
In this regard, the RDA chairman talked to The Express Tribune and said that he would try his best to get the minutes released during this current week.
