Ministry amends rules for appointing FDE DG
Federal Education Ministry decides to revise rules which were developed in the late 90’s
ISLAMABAD:
The Federal Education Ministry has announced that it would amend rules for appointment of director general (DG) in its sub-ordinate institution, Federal Education Directorate (FDE).
The FDE oversees affairs of up to 423 educational institutions in the federal capital. The proposed amendment suggests deployment of an outsider on the highest post. Earlier, only teachers or heads in federal education institutions or an individual from board of directors was eligible to assume charge.
The Federal Education Ministry has decided to revise rules which were developed in the late 90’s, for recruitment of Director General (DG) of FDE.
FDE plans teachers training programme in summer
According to new proposed rules, anybody fulfilling the criteria mentioned in the advertisement would be eligible for the post, previously limited for teachers and directors in FDE only.
The sources told that no permanent DG had been appointed on the post since 2016, even after transition of government while the directorate is operating on an adhoc basis. The adhocism has created difficulties for teachers and it has slowed down educational development in federal education institutions.
Moreover, the Federal Government Teachers’ Association (FGTA) has expressed displeasure over the decision and clarified that the decision would not be embraced at any cost.
