Man killed by armed thief

RAWALPINDI: A citizen was shot dead in the city while attempting to capture a thief who had broken into his house. According to police, an armed suspect entered the house of Hamid Ali, a resident of Sector 1 Khayaban-e-Sir Syed, with criminal intentions. Two brothers Qasim and Khizar got up and tried to catch the thief.

During the scuffle, the rest of the family members also got up due to the noise.

The suspect pulled out a gun and started shooting killing Qasim and fled the scene. Rawalpindi CPO Faisal Rana was at the crime scene. Police have acquired the CCTV footage of the incident and say they will soon identify the accused, CPO Rana said giving assurance to the heirs of the deceased.

The special investigation team has been constituted under an SP to probe into the matter. The case has been registered considering the father of the slain as the plaintiff.
