Germany beat France 4-2 to finish top of Group A as French goal-keeper Berangere Sapowicz became the first player to be sent off at the women’s World Cup. Inka Grings converted a penalty in the 68th minute after Sapowicz was given her marching orders for a dangerous tackle. Meanwhile, England booked their ticket to the quarter-finals with an impressive 2-0 victory over Japan to claim first place in Group B.
