QUETTA: Balochistan Education Secretary Tayyab Lehri has sacked 133 teaching and non-teaching staff, including ghost teachers, of Secondary Education Department due to negligence, absenteeism and misconduct in two days.

According to a notification issued by Secondary Education department, employees receiving termination letters are from grade 1 to 17.

The dismissed teachers and staff were found negligent in performing their duties while a majority of them were absent from duty for a prolonged period. “Sacked employees are either long absentees and or involved in breach of code of conduct,” Lehri said.

These employees were appointed in Quetta but were receiving salaries by staying at home, he added.

He added that no officer will get salary by sitting at home.

Lehri said that negligent teachers and other staff have put the future of our children at stake which could not be tolerated in the department.

He vowed to continue taking action against ghost teachers and staff. “Following the vision of Chief Minister Jam Kamal we will not compromise on the education and future of our children,” he said.

Lehri also hinted at the action against Drawing and Disbursing Officers to be initiated in next phase that were responsible to ensure attendance of these employees.
