Reference library inaugurated
The library houses around 4,000 rare books on literature and culture in English and Urdu, as well as 650 drama scripts

Lahore Arts Council (LAC) Board of Governor Chairperson Muneeza Hashmi and LAC Executive Director Athar Ali Khan inaugurated that Alhamra Reference Library at the Alhamra Art Centre. The library, which has been automated, houses around 4,000 rare books on literature and culture in English and Urdu, as well as 650 drama scripts. The library also boasts rare audio cassettes, videos, classical music collections and exhibitions. Speaking at the occasion, Hashmi stated that the reference library would prove to be a centre of excellence for students working in the entertainment industry. “Students can enhance their research experience by utilising the centre’s collection,” she said. LAC Executive Director Athar Ali Khan said that the team has worked tirelessly to create a massive collection of English and Urdu books, plays, press clippings, videos, scripts and audio cassettes which will benefit future generations. “The library will prove to be an important reference in the field of literature and culture,” he said.
