Medium flood in Indus expected
Evacuation orders given to people living in the Katcha area of the Indus River
KARACHI:
The district commissioners and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority have been directed to immediately evacuate people living in the Katcha area of the Indus River. Irrigation Secretary Saeed Ahmed Mangrio during a meeting with provincial Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah said that a medium-range flood was expected after 400,000 to 500,000 cusecs water flow in the river. The meeting discussed the situation after the sudden release of water in Sutlej and the Indus rivers from India. The meeting was attended by senior members of the board of revenue, rehabilitation secretary, Karachi commissioner and divisional commissioners of the province.
