Two Kohat shops sealed for selling fake cold drinks
The operations were carried out by K-PFSA officer Mohammad Siraj on Bannu Road and in Jungle Khel areas of Kohat
KOHAT:
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety Authority (K-PFSA) sealed two outlets in Kohat and seized up to 54 cartons of fake and misbranded cold drinks in separate operations.
The operations were carried out by K-PFSA officer Mohammad Siraj on Bannu Road and in Jungle Khel areas of Kohat.
Later, while speaking to the media, Siraj said the spurious drinks are mostly prepared by using the artificial sweetener saccharine instead of sugar, apart from the use of non-food colours and unfiltered water in producing the drinks.
He said that the manufacturers did not follow the prescribed ratio of chemicals, adding that consumption of these drinks could cause serious diseases.
K-PFSA Operations Deputy Director Kamran Khan said that the operations against fake and spurious cold drinks in Kohat were part of a larger campaign around the province.
