ISLAMABAD / RAWALPINDI: A clerk at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat has managed to sway the police into softening investigations towards his brother and then securing his release on bail.
Further, the official has managed to obtain a medical certificate from the hospital to lodge a counter case against the victim.
Per the case registered by the Aabpara police on August 3, Adil — the brother of Bilal who works in the PM Secretariat — owns a mobile accessories stall in the Aabpara market.
On August 3, the suspect along with his accomplices Amin Yousuf and Zeeshan allegedly grabbed two precious parrots from Sagheer Ahmed’s shop.
When Ahmed resisted, the suspects beat up the shopkeeper his brothers Abdul Aziz and Abdul Hafeez. While fleeing, the suspects also took Ahmed’s wallet and cash in the till.
When Bilal learnt about the incident, he allegedly managed to to get the support of a senior official at the PM Secretariat who then called the police station on Bilal’s behalf on August 5. After this, the suspects were allegedly shifted to the investigation officer’s room and were provided with a mattress and food.
Later, the police allegedly declared in court that prosecution was not interested in following up the case.
Ahmed, however, protested this. The court, however, ordered a two-day judicial remand of the suspect. Later, both suspects were released on bail.
Bilal then managed to obtain a medical certificate for Adil from the Polyclinic by allegedly calling from the Secretariat. The certificate said that Adil had suffered a fractured arm. Using this certificate, Bilal allegedly registered a case against Ahmed.
When The Express Tribune contacted Ahmed quoted Investigation Officer ASI Sharif Khalid as saying that they had to change the course of the investigation owing to immense pressure from senior officials at the PM’s Secretariat.
Ahmed added that he will soon provide evidence against Adil.
When asked, Ahmed Hasan, a private secretary of a senior official at the PM’s Secretariat, confirmed that Bilal had allegedly shown the official a video of his brother and gained his sympathy. He, however, added that they will probe the clerk if Ahmed files an application.
Policeman suspended
A Rawalpindi sub-inspector has been suspended after a video of him sitting shirtless in a police station went viral on the internet.
The video showed SI Muhammad Hayat performing his duties at the Sadiqabad police station wearing only a vest while his fellow officer only wore civil clothing instead of his uniform.
Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Faisal Rana took strict notice of the video and suspended the officer. A police spokesperson said that they had received complaints hat Hayat dealt with women complainants in poor dressing and that a departmental inquiry will be launched against the officer.
Rape video case
The Rawalpindi police have widened the sphere of investigations into a couple who allegedly raped girls and filmed them. SSP Investigation Muhammad Faisal has formed an eight-member team, including SP Waris Khan, Amna Baig and a female sub-inspector.
During the investigation, the police said they learnt that the couple, Qasim and Kiran, were married three years ago and had no children.
Qasim’s family lived in Gujjar Khan while one of his brothers lived abroad. Kiran was a resident of Khanna in Islamabad and worked as a nurse at a private hospital.
Faisal said that they have details of the couple’s bank accounts and the transactions made. He added that Cyber-Crime Wing of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had also been approached to obtain details of how the couple transmitted videos.
He added that they hope to uncover the true extent of the couple’s scheme after digital forensics of their digital devices apart from identifying their accomplices.
Child maid tortured
The Rawalpindi police have recovered a tortured 10-year-old child maid from the custody of a family who was visiting Murree for their holidays.
Police on Sunday said that they had received information at a police check post in Murree regarding a minor being tortured.
The police subsequently rescued the child and apprehend a man identified as Umair Tanveer and booked him. Officials said that Tanveer, a resident of Saeed Colony in Faisalabad, had hired the child for domestic labour 10 months ago. Together with his family, Tanveer had travelled to Murree to spend the extended Eidul Azha and Independence Day holidays and had been at the hill station for the past seven days.
Police officials said that the child bore bruises on her arms and legs.
