Woman dies after seeing son receive electric shocks during repair work

The family says that Rohana was a heart patient and died of a heart attack seeing her son die

KARACHI: Two men, Shahi Gul, 33, and Rehan, 20, were injured by electric shock on Sunday while Gul, who is an electrician, was working at Rehan's house in Hussain Hazara Goth, Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Rehan's mother, Rohana, 40, wife of Maroof, went into a state of shock watching her son receive electric shocks.

She suffered  a heart attack and died.

Police reached the site of the incident upon receiving the complaint and shifted the deceased and the injured to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC).

According to Gulistan-e-Jauhar ASI Mehmood, Gul had been called by the family to fix some faults in the house and while the electrician was working, he received electric shocks from the wires.

Rehan attempted to rescue Gul but the current caught him too while his mother, who was watching the scene unfold died suddenly.

Doctors said that there was no evidence of electrocution on the woman's body. The family said that Rohana was a heart patient and died of a heart attack as she watched her son receive electric shocks.

Police handed over the body of the deceased woman after medico-legal formalities.
