LEAs detain 11 persons linked with MQM-P, MQM-London

The residence of another UC chairman was also raided for his arrest but he escaped from the house

HYDERABAD: Law enforcement agencies detained 11 persons associated with Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and MQM-London factions during separate raids in Hyderabad on Thursday night and Friday. A union committee (UC) chairman, a vice chairman and a UC ward councilor besides a former sector in-charge are among the detained.

The residence of another UC chairman was also raided for his arrest but he escaped from the house. According to police sources, the detained persons allegedly raised slogans and played party songs in favour of MQM-London leadership during an Independence Day rally in Latifabad area on August 14.

UC-85 Chairman Nawab Ali, UC-25 Vice Chairman Tariq Shaikh, UC-14 Ward Councilor Ismail Mughal and former MQM sector in-charge Rafique Arain are among those detained.

The house of UC-21 Chairman Pervez Waseem was also raided but he escaped moments before the raid.
