Eid celebrated with traditional fervour

Over 5,000 security personnel deployed at congregation sites

QUETTA: Eidul Azha was celebrated with traditional zeal and fervour as authorities put strict security measures in place to ensure there was no untoward incident.

The festival, which commemorates the sacrifice of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) and observed by over a billion Muslims around the globe, began with morning prayers that were held at mosques and special congregation areas set up across the provincial capital.

Special prayers were also held for the safety and security of the people in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).

Quetta Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abdul Razzaq Cheema said that Eid prayers were held at 258 locations, including mosques, Imam Bargahs and other open spaces while the main gathering took place at Toghi Road.

“More than 5,600 security personnel, including the police, Levies force and the Balochistan Frontier Corps (FC), were deployed at Eid congregations,” he said.

They were supported by 80 police vehicles as well as 200 motorbikes manned by Eagle Force personnel for patrolling in the area to prevent any untoward situation.

Governor Amanullah Khan Yasinzai, Chief Minister Jam Kamal and National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Khan Suri offered Eidul Azha prayers in the provincial capital.
