The water supply to Jaffer-e-Tayyar Society came up in court on Tuesday in a dispute over a water tanker service that fell short, according to the petitioner.

Petitioner Syed Iqbal Kazmi had filed an application. He alleges that the water board’s MD and chief engineer have misued and interpreted on their own an order that was passed by the Sindh High Court.

The petition sought water supply lines and a system for Jaffer-e-Tayyar Society.

The MD and CE first decided that 150 tankers would be provided to the area. They gave a contract to Al Mehran Tanker Service which sent a bill for 222 days for Rs11.92 million from the KWSB.

Kazmi disputes the bill and maintains that only 12 to 15 tankers were sent and that too for a few days.

The petitioner asked the court to charge the alleged contemnors with contempt of court and request the Federal Investigation Agency be inquire into the loss caused to the water board as it is a government utility agency.

The bench of Justice Muhammad Ather Saeed and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar heard the petitioner who appeared in person and ordered the issuance of contempt of court notices for July 12 (next Tuesday).
