LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmakers strongly condemned the arrest of the party’s vice president Maryam Nawaz and termed the arrest an attempt to divert attention from the Kashmir issue under the garb of “political victimisation”.

Some PML-N MPAs submitted their resolutions in the Punjab Assembly. MPA Hina Pervez Butt said the government is diverting public attention from the Kashmir issue through such tactics which is highly regrettable. In her resolution, she said that the opposition is being pressured through arrests in forged cases being prepared by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

She urged the government to take collective measures, taking on board the opposition and other political parties in view of the current prevailing circumstances. It is the need of the hour to show unity against India’s policies on Kashmir, she said.
