Post-Eid waste management plan in place

Over 3000 sanitary workers would perform round-the-clock duties from a day before Eid

In order to ensure cleanliness during Eidul Azha, Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) along with Turkish company Al-Bayrak, issued a plan to dispose of sacrificial animals’ offal.

The plan was finalised in a meeting of RWMC held on Wednesday. Some 3225 sanitary workers would perform round the clock duties from a day before Eid till the third day.


In this regard, 10 permanent and 27 mobile transfer stations would be established while 364 vehicles, 144 mini dampers, 250 handcarts would be used to lift and dispose of entrails and offal of the sacrificed animals. The company’s teams would be deployed on 13 grand-sacrificial points while they would be washed with phenyl and strewed with limestone. RWMC would distribute waste bags and other pamphlets, inscribed with helpline numbers, would be distributed to citizens.
