Besham gets new 132kv grid station
Mahmood inaugurates station, blames past govts for using load-shedding to further political motives

As the tourist season nears its peak, the provincial chief minister on Wednesday inaugurated a 132-kilovolt grid station in Besham. The station will help supply Chakesar and its adjoining areas.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Mahmood Khan also inaugurated an upgraded hospital in Besham and a general bus station.
After inaugurating the Rs300 million Shing grid station in Besham, Mahmood stated that it will provide power to Chakesar and adjoining areas of Shing, ultimately resolving issues of low voltage and load shedding in the area.
He further said that the establishment of the Chakdara grid station had resolved power issues of the entire Malakand region. Similarly, he said that they were setting up mini-hydel power plants apart from solarising mosques and various government departments to meet the energy and power needs of the province.
“Past governments used the issue of load shedding for political gains rather than taking practical steps for resolving the issue,” he said.
Sindh govt to set up grid company to improve supply
The chief minister added that his government is working towards establishing a welfare state for which several schemes have been initiated such as the Sehat Insaf Cards for the entire province which will provide free healthcare facilities. Further, he said that they were establishing shelter homes for the homeless and initiating the Ihsaas Scheme under which the government will be responsible for the needs of orphans, widows and needy people.
He added that they were introducing the “Insaf Rozgar Scheme” in the newly-merged tribal district to provide youngsters with interest-free loans to start a business. Further, technical skills will also be imparted to the youth of the province, enabling them to become job-providers instead of job-seekers.
Criticising opposition political parties, CM Mahmood stated that corrupt politicians made shallow promises to mislead the people while the incumbent government was taking pragmatic and practical steps for the welfare of the people.
He went on to blame other parties for their alleged ‘decades of corruption’ causing inefficiency and considerable damage, leaving the province underdeveloped with widespread unemployment.
CM Mahmood also inaugurated the upgraded Besham Hospital. The hospital has been upgraded from Category B to Category C.
He also inaugurated a new general bus stand.
