KARACHI:
The Supreme Court disposed of on Monday the bail plea of former tapedar Abdul Rahim Burfat in the case pertaining to bogus entries in land records in Thano Bula Khan Tehsil of Jamshoro district.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Sajjad Ali Shah heard the pre-arrest bail plea at the Karachi registry.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor maintained that Burfat had made fake entries in government land records. He argued that land was sold on the basis of the fake entries which caused a loss to the national exchequer. He said that the court had issued notices to NAB after the last hearing and as bail was not granted, Burfat was arrested from outside the court after the last hearing. The pre-arrest bail plea is not maintainable now, he argued.
