Sindh government allots Rs248 million to rehabilitate Chundrigar Road
KARACHI:
Sindh government will spend Rs248 million on the rehabilitation of II Chundrigar Road under the Annual Development Plan (ADP) in order to restore the aesthetic beauty of the main commercial artery of Karachi.
The improvement work that includes proper designing in a thematic way from Shaheen Complex to Merewether Tower will be carried out by the Local Government (LG) department.
Karachi Commissioner Iftikhar Shalwani directed the officials that all footpaths should be constructed in a similar design and zebra crossing should be constructed with red paver free from all type of encroachments. No parking will be allowed on the road.

The beautification plan and PC-1 finalized by the provincial government has been sent to Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah for approval which is expected to be approved after Eid-ul-Adha holidays.
Briefing on the project, LG Department Special Secretary Niaz Ahmed Soomro told the commissioner that it will be completed in 6 months.
The commissioner said that banks and offices located on the road will cooperate the improvement work and will not use the space for parking. It was also decided in the meeting that the ground of Pakistan Railways will be used for parking.
