RAWALPINDI: Taking a leaf out of the regional tourist magnet city of Dubai, the Parks and Horticultural Authority (PHA) of Rawalpindi plans to install ‘hologram advertising boards’ across the city, just like the ones used to advertise the Burj Khalifa, the tallest man-made structure in the world.

Officials of the authority say they have started work on the project and hope that once it is completed, they will be able to remove the current, dangerous billboards installed across the city.

The first of these boards are expected to be installed near the Benazir Bhutto General Hospital (BBH) on the pillars of the Metro Bus which runs over the Murree Road — a major thoroughfare which links Rawalpindi with Islamabad and further the hill station of Murree.

PHA Chairman Asif Mehmood told The Express Tribune that they intend to install the new boards over the next couple of days.

Instead, all that is required is a two feet by five feet plastic strip was required to create a large holographic screen which can display colour advertising vividly and can catch the viewer’s attention.

Asked about the cost of advertising on the new system, he said that it could range between Rs20,000 to Rs100,000.

In the first phase, he said that they intend to install the devices on the 300 pillars of the Metro Bus on the Murree Road with support from the RCCI along with other traders, businessmen and advertisers.
