RATODERO: The shutting down of a Pole-Mounted Transformer (PMT) has aggravated an already bad power supply situation at the Children’s hospital in Larkana, as the summer continues. In addition, unabated load-shedding has made the situation worse and the power outages have damaged expensive machines and equipment, including ICU monitors, photo-therapy machines, air conditioners, motors, water coolers and fans. Medical Superintendent Dr Zulfiqar Siyal told journalists that he has informed the superintendent engineer, chief executive of the Sukkur electric supply company and the health department. Although 100 to 300 KVA diesel generators are installed in all blocks of the hospital, the hospital doesn’t have enough money for diesel.
