RAWALPINDI: At least 44 suspects wanted in cases of robberies, muggings, snatching motorbikes and cars have been arrested during July, said Rawalpindi police.

Police have a car and nine stolen motorbikes during the month, senior officials said.

A major breakthrough for police was the capture of Irfani gang which used to target women in shopping areas to cut off their gold jewellery by wire cutter.

Moreover, arrest of 2018 Katcheri shootout case suspect Arshad Langra and his accomplice was also an achievement for the Rawalpindi police.

Saddar SP Rai Mazhar Iqbal, Potohar SP Syed Ali and Rawal SP Akram Khan Niazi giving monthly briefing to City Police Officer Faisal Rana said that in July police busted 11 criminal gangs.

During the month 24 murder cases were registered in Rawalpindi and 20 suspects or 85% of the accused have been arrested and are under interrogation.

They told CPO that police arrested 106 accused in 106 drug cases and recovered 86.57kg of hashish. At least 125 people were arrested in 87 cases registered under various provisions of the National Action Plan, the superintendents told the police chief.

The CPO Muhammad Faisal Rana expressed satisfaction over this performance and said that the reason for our success is the policing done through integrated strategy and comprehensive planning.
