RAWALPINDI: City Police Officer Faisal Rana has directed police to keep watch activities on criminals having history sheet as well as ex-convicts.

He said people coming out of prisons were likely to establish new gangs or become facilitators of other criminals.

The CPO expressed these views while addressing a meeting in which Saddar SP Rai Mazhar Iqbal, Potohar SP Syed Ali, Rawal SP Ikram Khan and other police officers were present.

The CPO added that if a person is released from jail, it should be with the resolution to become a better person and a law abiding citizen and police must encourage them to become such people. However, if after being released from jail, they do not mend their ways and continue to carry out heinous crimes, the same criminals will be dealt with an iron hand, and will face stricter punishments for their crimes. This action will be carried out to bring peace into society and bring down the rate of heinous crimes.

Police launches ‘Travel Eye’ to trace suspects

He also said that the police can get valuable information about other active criminals from those released from jail and looking to become law abiding citizens. The SSP, SDPO and SHOs must analyse the records of such criminals and devise a meaningful strategy to start this operation, and utilise the information to further the campaign.

Moreover, the CPO added that every step taken by Rawalpindi Police is intended to enhance peace in society. ‘We have to act within the limits of authority provided by the law and there is no justification of abuse of powers nor will it be tolerated in any case,’ he said.

CPO further said that criminals often try to take advantage of loop holes in the law so it is our responsibility to investigate cases in a professional manner and to not provide any kind of advantage to criminals. The CPO told the participants that he would evaluate the progress of the operation on a daily basis. Good performance would be rewarded while officers found to be negligent would face strict departmental action.

Furthermore, while giving directions on security preparations for Eidul Azha and Muharram-ul- Haram, the CPO said that religious and sectarian violence can trigger a disaster. Police must take immediate action if they even suspect any such threat.

Moreover, the CPO said that society cannot afford any kind of hate mongering. Such acts have often ruined the peace of societies. During Eidul Azha and Muharram-ul-Haram.

The CPO further directed that the police has to keep a check on the illegal use of loud-speakers during Eidul Azha and Muharram ul Haram. Cases will be registered against those who violate the law.

Unlawful use of a loudspeaker is such a nursery where the seed of hatred really nourishes therefore we must not allow anyone to carry out such acts. The CPO said that in the light of directions from the Punjab chief minister and the Punjab IGP we have to ensure exemplary peace on Eidul-Azha and during Muharram ul Haram and for this it is necessary that a national action plan is implemented and the directions of the home department are followed.

Police issues advisory against child abuse

The Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police on Tuesday issued an advisory to protect children from abuse and ensure their protection from violence.

In a poster, police advises parents to teach children to run away, make noise and cry for help “If somebody touches sensitive parts of their body, asks them to hide anything from the parents, starts giving gifts unnecessarily or tries to take them to a remote place.”
