I was supposed to star in Avatar: Govinda
Actor claims he rejected the film as he doesn’t like body paint
Bollywood actor Govinda recently admitted to rejecting mega blockbusters like Taal, Gadar and Devdas, among others. But the list doesn’t end there. Apparently, the 90's superstar also rejected an offer to star in James Cameron’s Avatar, which was the highest-grossing film in the world for 10 years until it was taken over by Avengers: Endgame just last week.
Govinda made the shocking revelation on Rajat Sharma’s Aap Ki Adalat, reported The Indian Express. He said that he had, in fact, suggested the title Avatar to James as well.
“I gave the title of the film and it turned out to be a super hit. I had informed James that the film will do really well. I told him that I feel it will take seven years for him to complete the film and he got angry,” the actor recalled. “When I said so, he asked, ‘How can you be so sure that I won’t be able to make Avatar for seven years?’ I told him that what he was imagining was something almost impossible.”

The actor added the reason he rejected Avatar was that the director required him to shoot for around 410 days and he was also against using body paint.
“He wanted me to shoot for 410 days. For someone like me, to get painted all over the body was something I could not do. So, I apologised. But like I said, the film went onto become a super hit,” Govinda explained.
