LUX Style Awards redefines glitz and glam in its own special way
Earlier this month, Pakistan witnessed an unforgettable star-studded night that was oozing with glitter and glamour as prominent celebrities celebrated the most prestigious award night of the year: the 18th LUX Style awards (LSA). With the perfect black and gold theme, the chandeliers made the red carpet event bling to life and helped unfurl the mood for the night. The ravishing, extravagant night rightly became the talk of the town when the red carpet was graced by copious celebrities, socialites and corporate giants coming together in an elegant mix of glitz and stardom under the legacy of LSA.
This year, the awards night was kicked off by Momina Mustehsan’s inspirational act which was in itself an anthem on women’s resilience. Performing for the first time, Momina shared the stage with the very talented group of female rappers from Lyari, the “Gully Girls’ and Eva B who gave a power packed performance. This enchanting performance was an attempt to start the night with an encouraging message that set the tone for the evening: go big or go home. This inspirational act was produced by an all women crew, you go girls!

Amidst this fashion hall of fame, Saba Qamar and Maya Ali and Meera gave a historical tribute to celebrate the beguiling work of the veteran actress Madam Shabnam.
These ‘Lux girls’ surely set the stage on fire with their scintillating performances. The tribute further made everyone emotional when the heart throb Atif Aslam gave an impeccable performance on the famous song of yesteryears ‘Mujhe Dil se na Bhulana.'

Award shows have always been about being extra, the eye catching glitz, the glamour, and the fun which makes them entertaining for sure. But this year, Lux went an extra mile by kicking off the LSA’19 in a special way which involved celebrating the achievements of women.
Fahad Mustafa, the first host and opener of the award show, paid homage to all the women of the Pakistani film industry by stating, “There cannot be an industry without these women’s stellar contribution. They are our backbone; they are the pillars. We need to empower them, as much as we can.”
The theme of the show was to speak about women and their efforts in our industry so when Mehwish Hayat took the stage as the other host of the night, and she along with Zara Noor Abbas spoke about the negative connotations attached with women in the industry and further expressed their views about breaking stereotypes. Mehwish made sure to take subtle digs at intolerance and how she hopes Pakistani society will become more open in the future.
Achievements of women sure make us proud as there truly has been an advancement in the way they are being recognised for their contributions in the industry. This year, however, LSA'19 raised the bar even higher by setting up a digitised red carpet that spoke volumes about advancements in local award shows.

For the first time ever - doors to the grand LSA red carpet were opened for audiences on the ground. With the show air date well ahead of the live show itself, LSA wanted to make sure audiences did not miss out on the magical red carpet moments while they happened. Moreover, Lux provided audiences with an opportunity to interact with their favourite celebrities on the red carpet!

In a world rapidly becoming digitised, this was done via high speed dedicated internet lines and videocon facility that literally opened doors to LSA red carpet while it happened opening a live door to the red carpet for audiences from Karachi and multan. Doors were placed at malls which opened into a very smartly placed screen inside showcasing the red carpet live on the other side - with cameras placed on either side both the celebrities and the audiences could see and talk to each other live.
It is safe to say that the real star of the evening was the highly impressive GlamCam which shot some stunning slow-motion portraits of celebrities, and made some of the biggest stars on the carpet look like, you know, SUPER STARS. To top it off, the team was surprisingly intricate, organised and efficiently managed workflow to get the stunning footage shot, edited, processed and transferred to go live within a short period of time after being captured.

The “who wore what” lingered low in the air as cinema divas strutted in stilettos on the red carpet in their detailed, billowed and slit gowns and their on-screen counterparts looking dapper in tuxedos. The red carpet dazzled with stars and their beguiling selves made their way in high spirits in anticipation of accolades for their contributions for cinema and the small screen.
In another fabulous attempt to create an installation that married art and fashion where A-list celebrities could walk in and strut their stuff, RAKA Events, Hoola Official and O'Shoot partnered with Unilever and LUX to provide spectacular projection technology and animated visuals at the iconic LUX Style. And they surely pulled it off with aplomb.

Fondly called the “Instagram Booth", it involved animated visuals that coordinated with lighting cues and music. Altogether they merged into one breath-taking psychedelic alternative reality show. It was achieved with projectors with top-notch image quality in terms of brightness, sharpness and vivid color rendering in order to create a digitally immersive environment that captured the highlights of the star-studded night. It was a resounding success and it’s something we are really proud of.
