Raids and register cases against dealers

SARGODHA: The district administration has directed all assistant commissioners and agriculture extension officer to conduct raids and register cases against dealers involved in overcharging consumers and selling poor quality fertilisers, seeds and pesticides. These directions were issued during a meeting of the district consultative committee and the agriculture task force, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Silwat Saeed. Officials concerned were directed to take action against those involved in overcharging consumers and adulteration. Agriculture Deputy Director Dr Basharat Ali that during the 2018 campaign against adulteration, a total of 147 samples had been collected and nine FIRs were registered while fines of Rs160,000 were imposed. Further, fines worth Rs109,000  were imposed on dealers involved in overcharging for fertilisers.
