Blake Lively, Leighton Meester asked to return to 'Gossip Girl' reboot
Producers assured that there are no new actors who will fill the shoes of Blair and Serena
Hey, Upper East Siders! Brace yourselves cause Serena and Blair might just be returning to the Gossip Girl reboot, reported Elle.
But ever since the news of the reboot broke, fans have been curious to know if Blake and Leighton will reprise their roles as Serena and Blair respectively. After all, the two best friends were the heart and soul of Gossip Girl and we cannot imagine a reboot without them making an appearance at least sometimes.
So it seems like the door for Blake and Leighton's reunion has been opened. Executive producer Josh Schwartz recently hinted the possibility of the two actor's return, during an appearance at the Television Critics Association summer press tour.
"We’ve reached out to all of them to let them know it was happening, and we would love for them to be involved if they want to be involved. But certainly, we didn’t want to make it contingent upon their participation," TV Line quoted Josh as saying. "They played those characters for six years and if they felt like they were good with that, we wanted to respect that. But obviously, it would be great to see them again.”
Josh also assured that there are will not be any new actors playing Blair and Serena. Instead, the reboot will continue with new characters in place. He confirmed it is not a remake.
