HARIPUR:
A rescue operation involving civil and military rescue workers searching for the bodies of over 20 people who had drowned when a boat sank in the Tarbela Lake near the Barg village, was formally ended three weeks later on Friday. The operation failed to yield any bodies, though.
On July 3, a boat with around 45 people on board was heading downstream from Torghar to Haripur when it struck a whirlpool in the middle of the river near Barg and capsized. Around 15 people either swam ashore or were rescued and bodies of four boys were also fished out on the first day.
