RCB completes 22 projects worth Rs10.2m in three months

Notices issued to 16 food outlets for unhygienic, unclean conditions

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has completed 22 projects in different cantonment areas worth Rs10.2 million during last three months.

According to RCB spokesman Qaiser Mehmood, RCB Engineering Section completed 22 different repair work projects in Masrial Road, Saddar, Westridge, Dhoke Syedan, Kamalabad, Peshawar Road, Tench Bhatta, Gawalmandi, Dhoke Gujran, Ghaziabad Range Road, Afshan Colony and Jan Colony.

He informed that the Public Facilitation Centre of RCB received 181 complaints regarding electricity, water supply and sanitation problems in the cantonment areas during the past week.

The RCB's public facilitation centre received 83 complaints from the residents regarding electricity of which 68 were resolved, whereas out of 35 complaints regarding the water supply 21 were resolved on an urgent basis.

Similarly, out of 63 complaints lodged by the residents relating to sanitation, 54 were resolved during the period.

He informed that the Cantonment CEO Sibtain Raza had issued special instructions to officials of RCB's Public Facilitation Centre to address the problems on an urgent basis so as to provide better facilities to the residents.

Moreover, the Food Branch of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has issued notices to 16 food outlets for unhygienic and poor cleanliness conditions. According to RCB Food Branch, a total of 40 food samples were collected which were sent to the lab for quality testing while fines were also imposed on rules violators.

The cases of substandard food items were also sent to the court of the cantonment magistrate which imposed fines on the rules violators.
