154 EMTs complete advanced refresher course

LAHORE: A four-week long advanced refresher course for 154 emergency medical technicians (EMTs) concluded at Emergency Services Academy on Thursday. EMTs from all districts of the province trained according to the Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council of Ireland’s guidelines.

Punjab Emergency Service Director General Dr Rizwan Naseer was the chief guest for the ceremony. Emergency Service Academy Registrar Dr Muhammad Farhan Khalid, Medical Wing Head Dr Ali Imam Syed, Social Welfare Officer Sumaira Liaqat and others attended the ceremony.

According to details, the first batch of 154 EMTs trained at the academy according to the guidelines of the National Ambulance Service College (NASC), Ireland. The medical rescuers have been trained in line with the standard of the National Ambulance Service College and Pre-Hospital Emergency Care Council of Ireland to maintain emergency service according to international standards through third party evaluation.

Participants were given training about cardiac first responder, emergency first responder, and EMT courses. They were strictly evaluated according to NASC standards including weekly tests, midterms and final assessments at the end of the month.

Addressing the ceremony, the DG congratulated the EMTs on successfully completing the first advanced refresher course.
