“The state is like a mother and every mother wishes that her children shouldn't be hurt, abused, go hungry, or deprived of opportunities in life," he remarked while speaking at the inauguration of Darul Ehsaas in Rawalkot.
He was accompanied by Aon Abbas Buppi, the managing director of the Pakistan Baitul Maal.
AJK president calls for quality education to achieve national objectives
The president said that the orphanage will serve as a sanctuary for destitute children.
While referring to Islamic teachings of the importance of looking after orphans, he said: "There is no noble cause more than caring for those who have no one."
President Khan also urged people to work hand-in-hand for the prosperity of Pakistan.
The government, he said, is trying to improve the economy to boost employment opportunities for AJK youth.
The president also lauded the role of Pakistan Baitul Maal for providing relief to orphans by imparting education and medical care to them.
While Buppi said that children of four to six years of age would be granted admission at Darul Ehsaas with basic facilities including education and health being given to them.
He said that this was the third Darul Ehsaas established during this government's tenure.
