KARACHI:
The Pakistani community residing in the United States has donated medical supplies worth millions of rupees for Karachi Metropolitan Corporation-run hospitals during the Karachi Mayor's recent visit to Houston.
The container of supplies, received by Mayor Waseem Akhtar, from the president of the Houston-Karachi Sister City Association, Saeed Shaikh, was later dispatched for Karachi and would be distributed among the 14 KMC-run hospitals. Commissioner Iftikhar Shallwani was also present on the occasion.
The mayor, who was in Houston to attend the Sister Cities International Conference, was accorded a warm welcome. Cooperation in the sectors of science and technology between the two cities was discussed during the visit.
