Govt earmarks Rs1.374m for three uplift schemes

Three schemes include: Suraj Kund Road, the road from Jail Morr to MNSU, a flyover at Nadarabad Phattak

MULTAN: The Punjab government has earmarked Rs1,374 million for three uplift schemes, being executed by the Multan Development Authority (MDA), in the current budget for FY 2019-20.

Director Engineering MDA Nazir Ahmad Chughtai told APP that the three schemes of MDA included the widening and expansion of Suraj Kund Road and the road from Jail Morr to Mian Nawaz Sharif University at a cost of Rs234million and Rs140 million, respectively. The third scheme was the construction of a flyover at Nadarabad Phattak at a cost of Rs1,000 million.

He said that PC-I, with estimated costs, was completed and would be sent to the quarters concerned for final approval. He added that the Punjab government has also released initial funds for these schemes, while work would start by October this year after approval of the PC-I and completion of the tendering process.

Chughtai said authorities would strive to complete these schemes within the current fiscal year. He added that these schemes were being initiated to reduce the traffic mess on the roads and provide maximum relief to citizens.

He said that MDA was also doing lane-marking of main roads of the city under MDA. The roads included LMQ Road, Vehari road, BCG Chowk, the Metro route and others.
