Preventive measures against dengue urged
PGMI principal says it is our collective responsibility to keep the environment mosquito-free
The Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Principal stated that all citizens must adopt preventive measures to avoid dengue and other diseases. He maintained that it is people’s collective responsibility to keep the environment clean and mosquito-free.
He expressed these views while leading an awareness walk on the virus at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) on Tuesday. LGH Medical Superintendent Dr Mahmud Salauddin, doctors, nurses, paramedical staff and people from all walks of life participated in the walk.
Capital’s hospitals told to devise dengue management plans
Participants also carried placards and banners emblazoned with messages about dengue safety and cleanliness. The walk began at the LGH admin block and ended at the Punjab Institute of Neurosciences.
The PGMI principal highlighted that dengue became widespread in the province in 2011. As a consequence, the health department took special steps at all hospitals. He said that dengue patients at LGH have been provided separate beds and special care.
He expressed that complete measures are being taken for dengue patients, as per the directions of the Punjab government and the provincial health minister. “It is the duty of all doctors and medical staff to inform the general public and patients to adopt preventive measures against dengue,” he said.
He said that the purpose of holding the walk is to create awareness among the masses as they should take extra care during the rainy season.
