Surprised by India's reaction to Trump's Kashmir mediation offer: PM Imran
Pakistan will do everything within its power to facilitate the Afghan peace process, assures premier
Prime Minister Imran Khan said that he was astonished by India’s reaction to US President Donald Trump offer to mediate between Pakistan and India on Kashmir dispute.
Trump during his maiden meeting with PM Imran on Monday had offered to mediate the decades-long Kashmir conflict saying he was asked by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to mediate on the issue, a claim which was promptly rejected by the government in New Delhi.
“Surprised by reaction of India to Pres Trump's offer of mediation to bring Pak & India to dialogue table for resolving Kashmir conflict which has held subcontinent hostage for 70 yrs,” the premier wrote on his official twitter handle.
“Generations of Kashmiris have suffered and are suffering daily and need conflict resolution,” he added.
In another tweet, the prime minister extended felicitations to the US president for his warm and gracious hospitality and for understanding the country’s point of view during his three-day official visit to Washington.
“Appreciate the President taking out time to show us the historic White House private quarters,” he said.
PM Imran also assured President Trump that Pakistan will do everything within its power to facilitate the Afghan peace process. “The world owes it to the long-suffering Afghan people to bring about peace after 4 decades of conflict.”
Premier Imran also thanked the Pakistani diaspora in US for showing up in large numbers at Capital One Arena in Washington rally to support him during his visit to the country.
