Japan wishes to see Pak athletes in Tokyo games: envoy

ISLAMABAD: Japan will provide tatami mats and judo costumes would be presented to the Pakistan Judo federation early next year, on behalf of the Japan Judo Federation.

Japanese Ambassador Kuninori Matsuda said this in a meeting with Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Prsident Lt Gen (R) Arif Hasan on Friday.

Ambassador Matsuda emphasised the need of sports in the youth education as sports have life time effects on the health of youth.

“Japan will continue providing all possible assistance to Pakistan in the field of sports,” Ambassador Matasuda told Hasan who called on him to discuss matters relatred 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Ambassador said was just one year prior to the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic Games in 2020 and that POA president’s visit was very timely.

“I am looking forward to seeing Pakistan athletes qualifying and competing for the 2020 Tokyo Games in coming months, and I would like to cooperate with Hasan to promote further people-to-people interactions between Japan and Pakistan.” DNA
