KARACHI:
Accepting the pleas filed by Muhammad Faisal and Muhammad Rafi, accused in a case pertaining to the illegal sale of the property, the Sindh High Court (SHC) annulled the sentence awarded to them by the National Accountability (NAB) court. The verdict was announced by a two-member bench, comprising Justice Muhammad Iqbal Kalhoro and Justice Shamsuddin Abbasi.

Faisal had bought a 400-yard plot, located in Saddar, from Rafi. According to NAB officials, the plot belongs to the federal government and it was sold illegally. The NAB court had sentenced the accused to five years of imprisonment on January 25, 2019.

Defence lawyer, Advocate Khwaja Naveed, argued that the case was illegally transferred to NAB court from anti-corruption corruption court. He said that the case could only be transferred to the NAB court by the NAB chairman.  Following this, SHC annulled the sentence awarded to the accused by the NAB court.
