Event aims to promote provincial harmony and public entertainment

Functions patronised by the Punjab Department of Information and Culture to highlight the culture of Dera Ghazi Khan are set to commence in the Lahore Alhamra Art Centre. The cultural events are being organised in collaboration with the Punjab Arts Council (PAC) and Lahore Arts Council (LAC) under the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, who will also serve as a chief guest on the first day of the functions.
The cultural events are part of a comprehensive strategy adopted for the development of cultural activities in the province. The main objective of this strategy is to promote provincial harmony in all provinces and not just provide standardised entertainment to the public. Besides this, highlighting the capabilities of local artists of every region is also part of the agenda.
“The arrangements for the DG Khan cultural shows have been finalised; we are hopeful that this cultural show will prove to be a unique gift for the people of Lahore,” said Lahore Arts Council Executive Director Ather Ali Khan.
Pakistan’s diverse culture on display at Lok mela
The event is part of an effort in which people of Lahore will have the opportunity to experience the music, dance, and beauty of Seraiki culture as well as Balochi culture, folk songs, unique sword dance and other colorful events of DG Khan and its surrounding areas.
PAC Executive Director Saman Roy will supervise the two-day events where the culture of DG Khan will be experienced beginning July 20. He will also monitor arrangements for guest singers, artists and the cultural delegation from DG Khan. Federal ministers, provincial ministers, assembly members, officers, and citizens are expected to attend the functions.
The cultural events in the provincial capital will take place prior to the “Koh-e-Suleman Tourist Festival 2019” being organised on August 23 in DG Khan. The historic festival is focused on making Fort Munro the centre of the tourism festival. It will promote Koh-e-Suleman as well as other mountainous areas including Hak Bai, Mubaraki Top, Bail Pathar, Barthi, and Anari Hills.

Motorcyclists from all parts of the country will visit Fort Munro to participate in motorcycle rallies and camp at various mountainous places. The provincial government is aiming to promote tourism activities in the area to make the region a national as well as an international destination for tourists. During the festival in DG Khan, multiple activities and events will take place including Sufi night, a puppet show for kids, cultural show, dramas, Balochi Jhumar, paragliding, local handicraft stalls, sports competitions, shooting, picture exhibition, craft bazaar, and food street.
More than 1,100 rooms and facilities are available in guest houses, private hotels, and tourism resorts. Different tourist groups will be allowed camping and foolproof security arrangements will be made for the security of tourists in which border military police, Punjab police and Rangers assistance will be included.
The cultural events being held in Lahore will include performances of traditional sword dancing, cultural dance, folk music, and others. Artists performing at the functions include Taj Baledi, Mohammad Ali Mazari, Umer Buzdar, Qasim Siri, Owais Pathan Khan, and others.
A special cultural performance exclusive to the people of DG Khan will be headed by PAC Director Azfar Zia.

The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) director finance and Fort Munro Development Authority Deputy Director Anam Hafeez will organise the stalls selling special items representing local cultures, dresses, jewelry, and handy crafts.
