KARACHI:
Battle of the Bands (BoB) has given us some real gems. One of them is Jasim Haider & The Pindi Boys. The boys are back with Dunya, highlighting an issue everyone can relate to: the bitter realities of social media.

The animated video begins with a boy who is lost in a dunya (world) of his own. The boy appears to be someone who is obsessed with social media. He is a bulky youngster with a strong selfie game. Confined to a small room, this boy takes flattering pictures of himself, uploads them on social media and waits for his followers - mostly women - to start 'liking' them.

But, even though he wants assurance from these random girls on the internet, his sucha pyaar (true love) is someone else who has no clue about his one-sided love. He adds her on social media and assumes their love story has begun from there.

After the girl realises he is a creep, she blocks him which this not-so-macho boy does not take too well, thinking about it all day, every day.

The lyrics teri zindagi tanhai mein ghiri literally mean his life is full of loneliness. The boy realises that he is trying to find contentment in validation from others and depicting a fake life on the internet.

Jhooti hai dunya teri, jhooti hai dunya meri (Your world is a lie) shows how social media makes us believe everyone's life is perfect except our own, taking away the bitter realities of the online space.
