JPMC forms committee to probe patient's death

KARACHI:
The management of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) has constituted a five-member inquiry committee to probe the death of a woman in the gynaecology department.

The committee headed by Prof Dr Tariq Mehmood will comprise Prof Khadija Bano, Prof Syed Masroor Ahmed,   Dr Noushaba Rahat and Dr Nausheen Rauf. The members have been given the task to probe the death of a patient, Nasreen, wife of Sultan, who died in the gynaecology ward on July 15, 2019. The committee will also ascertain if there was any alleged negligence on the part of the staff of wards 8 and 9 and the blood bank if any.


The inquiry committee will fix responsibility for the alleged misconduct if any and also submit suggestions to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future. The meeting will be held today (Wednesday) at Najmuddin Auditorium and the committee will submit its report within 48 hours.
